GENEALOGY

Evidence of the tracing of genealogical lineages dates back to biblical times and is evident in the first book of the Bible.  Genesis records parts of the genealogies of Cain, Adam, Noah and several others.  The tracing of genealogies may have taken place earlier through oral traditions but this is difficult to prove.  In ancient times and in indigenous cultures is difficult to document oral traditions, especially if the genealogy was not recorded in later times. But generally until the 16th century, genealogy was primarily a tool of the aristocracy, used to prove membership in noble or royal families thereby confirming their entitlement to wealth and power. Modern “scientific genealogy” came about in the 17th century.

GENEALOGY OF THE PARIS FAMILY

John Paris, was believed to have been born Juan "Demetrio" Perez abt 1843 in Guam. John married Kiainiu, a full-blooded Hawaiian in 1877 in Honolulu, Hawaii. (Kiainiu was also known as Pauelua.)  The couple had five children: Henry born ca. 1875 and Isabella born ca. 1885 who both died young; and Thomas, John and Paulina. Unfortunately we have not been able to locate any photos of John or his wife Kiainiu.

GENEALOGY OF JUSTO LEON GUERRERO

Picture
DNA evidence indicates that Justo is third to fourth cousins with Yolanda and Benjamin above. The connection is believed to be in the 5th or 6th generation. Unfortunately we only know a few individuals in the 5th generation and none in the 6th. Our efforts will be directed toward finding these individuals through traditional genealogical research methods.

In the diagram below the 5th generation is the outer most layer (8 individuals), the 6th generation would be beyond that be comprised of 16 individuals and would be Justo's 2nd great grandparents.
